A spot-on laser treatment to reverse sun damage and other unwanted facial pigmentation…
An ideal first step in reversing the color (red and brown) associated with sun damage with minimal down time. Photorejuvenation uses IPL (intense pulse light) to target and reduce the signs of sun damage and at the same time can also treat rosacea, reduce broken capillaries, and stimulates collagen. IPL is a gentle treatment yielding rapid results and allowing patients to back to their normal activities quickly.
IPL treats a wide variety of skin conditions:
- Sun damage
- Brown spots & Age spots
- Flushing & Redness
- Skin texture
- Broken capillaries
- Reduces fine wrinkles and large pores
During your consultation we will make a recommendation that is best for your skin type and desired outcome. On average, treatments are performed in a series of 3-5 treatments approximately 3-4 weeks apart. As with all treatments, individual results may vary.
How does IPL work?
These treatments target different chromophores (pigment creating cells) in the skin, which selectively absorb the laser or light energy as heat and yield the desired response. The wavelengths of light, clear red and brown spots by targeting the chromophores of hemoglobin (for vessels or redness) and melanin (for brown spots). The brown spots undergo a mild desquamation and slough off within two or three days, while the vascular lesions resolve within 10-14 days.
When is the best time to get Photorejuvenation treatments done?
Photorejuvenation treatments will make your skin more UV-light sensitive. Ideally these treatments are best performed October – June, avoiding mid-summer months. We ask our patients to please wear a Pūr Skin Clinic approved physical sun protection every day, reapplying every two hours when outside, and protect yourself with hats to keep your skin safe from sun damage and skin cancers.
How many treatments are recommended?
On average, you can expect approximately 15-20% reduction in red/brown/sun damage with each treatment. Therefore we recommend a series of 3-5 treatments approximately 1 month apart. If you want to maintain collagen growth and reduction of sun damage, we recommend a treatment every 6-12 months. Other conditions are more variable. If you have rosacea and/or are very red, twice a year or more may be needed.
What should I expect after my treatments?
After your first treatment, you can expect to see mild redness, darkening of brown spots, and mild swelling. These symptoms will resolve in several hours to one week.
If you are treating rosacea, redness and spider veins, you can expect swelling and possibly bruising which can take up to two weeks to resolve. Ultimately, your skin will feel smoother and have a more even tone with gradual decrease in overall redness, flushing, brown spots, and fine lines that will be more visible after each treatment.
Brown spots generally look darker for several days which can last up to ten days. The spots will then begin to clear and will generally resolve at one month. Remember, it takes an average of 3-5 treatments to clear brown spots and redness/spider veins. Do not worry if there is some unevenness after the first treatment. Makeup can be used starting right after the treatment, as long as it is applied and removed very gently.
***We recommend microdermabrasion 7-10 days after your laser treatment. Exfoliation will help to reduce the pigment and rehydrate the skin.

Love this place! I have had the best Botox treatment ever administered by Denice and I’ve had microdermabrasion that was perfect for my sensitive skin. I’ve sent two of my friends there. I highly recommend PUR.
Denice has been wonderful! She is very knowledgeable and experienced in her field of work. She was able to provide me with answers to my concerns. Overall it has been a wonderful experience for me as I knew that I was in good hands. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
Denice was highly recommended by a friend 10 years older than me. My friend looks beautiful while also natural and not like she’s “trying” to look younger. Denice listens to my priorities each time I see her and works very carefully to fulfill them. I consider Denice a tool in my beauty toolbox, like workouts and eating well. With her help, I feel more beautiful than ever!
When asked what part of my skincare routine I couldn’t live without, my answer is always retinol. A derivative of vitamin A, retinol was originally prescribed as an acne treatment but has now become the “gold standard” in antiaging medicine. I use retinol every night,...
