LASER HAIR REDUCTION
Shave minutes off your day with Laser Hair Reduction that permanently reduces growth on underarms, bikini, legs, lower face, backs, and more…
Laser hair reduction is a very safe and effective way to permanently reduce hair growth of underarms, bikini, legs, lower face, backs and many other areas. Laser hair treatments target the hair follicle, gently reducing unwanted hair. As body hair grows in different phases, with active growth only 20 – 30% at any given time, it is necessary to do an average of 5-6 treatments 6-8 weeks apart to ensure effectiveness. With each treatment, significantly less hair grows back, resulting in permanent hair reduction.
During your consultation we will make a recommendation that is best for your skin type and desired outcome. Patient treatment plans and results may vary and it is best to expect a reduction, but not total eradication, of all hair. A typical response is 80%-90% reduction of hair growth. As with all treatments, individual results may vary.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, laser hair reduction is the 3rd most performed non-surgical cosmetic treatment in the US. We can help you to get to the root of the problem with our state-of-the-art Vectus® Laser system. Vectus® Laser is approved for all skin types with unwanted dark hair.
How Your Hair Grows
Hair grows from deep within hair follicles, which are embedded in the skin. Hair does not grow continuously, but in a three-phase cycle.
- Anagen Phase: This phase is where the hair actively grows which typically lasts for several months and is the best phase for laser hair reduction.
- Catagen Phase: During this brief phase, the hair bulb regresses and begins to shrink.
- Telogen Phase: The final phase is a resting phase which lasts a few months. During this phase, the hair is released from the follicle and once complete, the hair will restart at the Anagen or growth phase.
While the rate at which hair grows differs by individual, the length of the hair growth cycle generally depends on the type of hair. For example, the active growth phase of the hair on your head may last several years, while hair on the body has an active growth phase that may last only a few months.
How does laser hair reduction work?
The laser emits a wave length that is targeted at melanin. Melanin gives color to our hair and skin. Palomar laser is able to pass through the skin and is absorbed by the melanin in the hair follicle. Therefore, the ideal candidate for this procedure has hair that is darker than their skin.
Why do you recommend a series of treatments?
At any given time, a certain percentage of hairs are in the “resting” phase or telogen phase. The laser will not be effective on those hairs, which is why, on average, five to six treatments are necessary achieve maximum results. Due to the variation in the number of hairs in the resting phase, certain areas of the body will respond more rapidly whereas others might take much longer to show hair reduction effects.
Do the treatments hurt and how long will they take?
There may be mild discomfort during the treatment, but most patients tolerate laser hair reduction very easily. Treatments can take from minutes to an hour or more, depending on the size of the treatment area. For discomfort we may use ice packs before and after your treatment and/or we will use a cooling machine during the treatment to make the experience more comfortable.
Am I a good candidate for laser hair reduction?
The Vectus® Laser can be safely used on all skin types from very light skin to very dark skin. It is best if the hair is black or brown, however, your provider will determine if you are a good candidate for the procedure based on a variety of factors.
How long does the hair reduction last?
Many patients report that, after 4-6 treatments, their expectations have been met and the hair growth pattern is significantly reduced. You may need more treatments if you have a history of irregular mensus, polycystic ovary disease or a family history of excessive hair. In some areas, in addition to the decrease in the number of hairs, the hairs become very fine and light in color, which is also acceptable to many patients. It is not possible to say that all the hairs will be permanently eradicated. Some patients may need a touch-up several times a year to maintain the improvement, especially on facial hair for women. About 10% of patients are resistant to any type of hair removal laser. It is very important to have a realistic expectation regarding individual results of hair reduction.

Love this place! I have had the best Botox treatment ever administered by Denice and I’ve had microdermabrasion that was perfect for my sensitive skin. I’ve sent two of my friends there. I highly recommend PUR.
Denice has been wonderful! She is very knowledgeable and experienced in her field of work. She was able to provide me with answers to my concerns. Overall it has been a wonderful experience for me as I knew that I was in good hands. I’m looking forward to my next visit.
Denice was highly recommended by a friend 10 years older than me. My friend looks beautiful while also natural and not like she’s “trying” to look younger. Denice listens to my priorities each time I see her and works very carefully to fulfill them. I consider Denice a tool in my beauty toolbox, like workouts and eating well. With her help, I feel more beautiful than ever!
